Recipes I found

These are from Mama's in the Kitchen, Weird & Wonderful Home Cooking 1900-1950 by Barbara Swell

Cabbage and grapefruit salad

1 pkg lime Jello
2 cups hot water
1 cup gracefruit sections, free from membranes
1 tbsp vinegar
2 tbsps sugar
1 tbsp horseradish
1 cup finely shredded cabbage
1/4 cup stuffed olives

Dissolve jello in hot water. Chill until slightly thickened. Turn about 1/4 cup jello into large mold, and in it arrange grafruit sections. Chill until firm. Then combine the questionable vegetable mixture and add to the thicened Jello. Garnish with escarole and radish roses. Serve with mayonnaise. Yummy!

Sauerkraut jello , 1938
2 cups sauerkraut
juice 1/2 lemoon
1 pkg lemon Jello
1/8 tsp salt
1 cup boiling water
1/8 tsp paprika
Dissolve a packet of lemon Jello in one cup of boiling water. When cool add sauerkraut, lemon jiuce, salt and paprika. Fill individual molds or cups. Chill. this recipe will make six individual cups. At serving time, removed from molds. Cut in any desired shapes and use as a garnish for salads or cold meats.

i will be serving those at my next dinner party. Who's bring the tuna salad stuffed peppers.

These desserts should help my weight loss. By the way, I gained 1 lb this week. Discouraged but not giving up.
